Gauge Reading & Yarn Substitution $35
Not sure how to read the gauge on the swatch you just completed? The pattern
tells you what pattern to do a gauge (swatch) in, but do you know how to actually determine how many stitches you have to
the inch? What happens if you can get stitch gauge but not row gauge? If a pattern you like calls for a specific
yarn but you want to substitute one you like better, do you know which yarns will work just as well as the one the
pattern asks for? Do you know how to combine yarns and still get gauge?
We can show you how to read those gauges and to determine which is the correct
size needle for you. We will also address combining yarns to get the gauge you need to create a one-of-a-kind yarn.
Maybe you want to use a cotton yarn instead of the wool the pattern calls for.
We will teach you how to find the right yarn for your pattern and how to avoid the pitfalls that can arise from yarn substitutions.
We will provide yarn samples to swatch in class.
